Bookstore Ministry

About our Team Leader

Linda Zeis

Team Leader Linda Zeis

Linda started coming to Unity Christ Church in 2007 and became a member in 2010. When she first started coming here, she spent time most Sundays browsing the bookstore and was impressed with the variety of books. She started volunteering in the bookstore in 2010 and enjoyed the work, as well as the opportunity to meet new people. Her involvement in the bookstore grew in the next few months and she eventually became the team leader.

Through her work in the bookstore, Linda has met many wonderful people and enjoys helping people find the books they are interested in reading. She enjoys working with the bookstore team, which is a dedicated group of people that faithfully give one Sunday morning each month working the store and helping customers.

Linda’s work in the bookstore has led to her discovery of new authors, new titles and new subjects that have supported her own spiritual journey and growth. Her goal as team leader is to ensure that the bookstore is a valuable resource for everyone that comes to Unity Christ Church as they explore their own spiritual growth and journey.

About this Ministry

Cynthia & Melissa

This ministry involves working in the bookstore one Sunday a month from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Two people are in service each Sunday. Each one attends one of the services and watches the bookstore during the other service. Most of the sales occur between services, which require running the cash register and processing credit cards.

Training is usually ‘on the job’ training on your first Sunday. The new team member works with Linda, the team leader, or a very experienced team member. There is a training manual with detailed procedures and diagrams and it is always available as a resource. Also in the training manual are lists of the books in the store, listed by title, by author and by topic.

Benefits of Service

• This ministry is a great way to be exposed to books you might not be aware of

• It allows you to spend some extra time browsing books during one of the services.

• It’s a great way to meet new people and to share ideas and thoughts about books each
of you may have read.

• It’s an easy way to get a book for upcoming classes and speakers too.

Specialty Items

We just finished the “Buck a Book” sale, which was a great success. People loved it and have asked us to do it again. Maybe this will become an annual spring event.

We are always considering new items such as unique posters and jewelry and there are frequently lots of new items for holiday shopping. Any suggestions you may have are
always welcome.
