January 1-March 31, 2012
Dear Friends on the Journey,
The word sabbatical has its roots in the biblical concept of Sabbath (“to rest” or “to cease”). Sabbath-keeping is setting aside time that God consecrates and makes holy.
I am truly blessed that our board and congregation supports my leaving for three months so that I may shift gears in order to rest, disengage, study, reflect, and travel and then return to minister among you, refreshed and renewed in body, mind and spirit. This is a time for me to receive spiritual nourishment and a change in perspective, to deepen my relationship with God, myself, my family and friends. This is also a season of growth for our entire congregation.
One of the major ways that you can support me while I am on sabbatical is to continue coming to church, supporting the worship celebrations and programs, and most of all your own spiritual growth. Remember me and my family in your prayers, and know that there are qualified people in our community who are here to meet your needs while I am away.
I have prepared a Sabbatical 2012 Brochure that will answer any questions you may have about my sabbatical – please pick one up near the church entrance or view it online here.
Know that I will continue to hold Unity Christ Church in my thoughts and prayers during my renewal time, and I certainly ask that you hold me in your prayers. I will see you Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Love and Blessings,
Rev. Pat
