Appreciative Inquiry to Uncover
Collective Vision for Unity Christ Church
Easter came early, and I hope you attended at least one of the four meaningful
services in our beautifully-decorated sanctuary. On April 6 Rev. Lynne
Brown, Director of Silent Unity, was here to participate in the installation of
our prayer chaplains for 2008-2009. There can be no doubt—Spring is here!
On Easter Sunday a major water pipe burst early in the day. Thanks to
building and grounds supervisor Blaine McCutchan, and the team he put
together, there was very little interruption to services that day and
throughout the following week as repairs were completed.
As the Board of Trustees enters the Spring Season, vice president Mary
Welch is leading us in a study of Georgiana Tree West’s book, Prosperity’s
Ten Commandments. Through her book, Mrs. West shows the correlation
between each commandment and Unity thinking as it relates to prosperity.
It promises to be an enlightening and thought-provoking study. If you are
interested, the title is available through our Bookstore, and we invite you to
explore with us.
Lori Dokken, Music Director, continues to provide meaningful, uplifting
and often toe-tapping music, ably supported by Judi Donaghy, Choir Director,
the Unity Choir and many highly professional musicians. We are grateful
for Lori and her dedication to our music program.
Soon the interview process that leads to our Strategic Plan for 2008 and
beyond will begin. The Board of Trustees will be very much involved in this
process, using the Appreciative Inquiry method, and we urge you to be involved
with us. This is a great opportunity for each of us to be heard and
to have a place in planning the future of this growing church. (See Reverend
Pat’s cover article for more detail.)
Reverend Pat celebrates his second anniversary with Unity Christ
Church on May 22, having survived another Minnesota winter! How blessed
and fortunate we are to have this wonderful teacher and mystic with us.
We appreciate his ability to teach Truth and Unity Principles, his dedication
to our church community, and his willingness to minister to all of us and the
larger community. Please be sure to give him a hug and say a special
prayer of thanks for his presence in our midst.

Blessings
from the Board,
Sarah Cox, President
