Laura Masica, President
I was raised in a faith with a strong metaphysical foundation. When my husband I started a family, I knew I wanted to provide a similar foundation of faith for my children in an atmosphere where my husband and I could both feel comfortable. We found this at Unity. I was first introduced to Unity churches in 1995 through my mother, who was attending Unity in Mesa, Arizona. I’ve been attending Unity Christ Church since 1997. My husband and I have been married for 23 years, and have three boys (Ian, Duncan and Logan) who are active in youth education at Unity. I’ve taught both Sunday School and Uniteens and currently serve on the Finance Committee, since its’ inception in 2009. In my 20 year career with Cargill, I’ve worked in Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance, and most recently, I manage a Learning and Development Team. My motto is, “the journey is the destination,” with the expectation that I will live life to the fullest every step of the way.
Patti Schevek, Vice President
One Sunday, sometime in 1990, I found myself sitting in the front row of the 8 AM service at Unity Christ Church. After experiencing the music, the meditation and the message, I knew that I found my spiritual home. I eased in slowly, took a few classes here and there, attended an occasional retreat, and for a couple years, taught Sunday school. As soon as it was announced that a choir was forming, I signed up. I became a member of the church in November 1992 and have attended ever since. In 2002, my husband Mark and I were married at Unity and he attends as well. Today I continue to sing in the choir, take classes, and Usher. In November of 2010, I attended The Nehemiah retreat at Unity Village, an experience for which I will be forever grateful. Outside Unity, I am a Sr. Project Manager for a company that provides interior design services, furniture, and architectural products for corporations. In project management, I take on many roles (leader, follower, organizer, coordinator, installation manager, risk manager, problem solver, budget protector, etc.) I also volunteer for “Walter’s Wish” (a mentoring program for high school girls), read with students at Lakeview Elementary School, and have raised thousands of dollars through charity bike rides and other activities. I am ready to be in “the front row” again at Unity by giving back to the place that has given me more than words can express. I consider it both a blessing and an honor to serve on the Board of Trustees at Unity Christ Church.

Judie Schumacher, Treasurer
I have been attending Unity Christ Church since 2003. New Thought was not what I was looking for but exactly what I needed. Unity principles have brought me to a new level of spiritual growth. I have been a Prayer Chaplain for 4 years, the last two of which I was also a co-leader and trainer. I have been active in book study groups and have volunteered as a love offering counter. Prior to attending Unity, I was active in another church, including volunteering with the Youth, leading prayer and meditation at services, and helping to establish an alternative service. Professionally I have recently held positions as project manager and process consultant. I have experience in facilitation, leading diverse cross-functional teams, and process improvement. I am extremely grateful for all I have learned at UCC. It has been an honor to be in service to this community as a board member since stepping in last summer.
Jeff Kaiserman, Asst. Treasurer
Jeff, his wife Andrea, and their daughter, Claire, have been attending Unity Christ Church for just over two years, and have been members for approximately 18 months. Jeff has spent the better part of the last 18 months supporting the Church’s website, and recently made a number of “look and feel” upgrades to better match the new logo and colors. Jeff has also been active on the Communications Task Force. Professionally, Jeff is a Vice President at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and has been there for three years. Prior to joining Wells, Jeff spent nearly sixteen years with Accenture/Andersen Consulting where he helped Fortune 500 companies develop new business models, grow revenue, and expand their product offerings. Jeff believes his skills in consulting and the leadership opportunities afforded to him at Wells Fargo will help serve the Church in many ways.
Kevin Hudalla, Member at Large
I first began attending Unity Christ Church over a decade ago, spent a handful of years in Boston, and then returned to my church home a few years ago. When I was relocating back to Minneapolis I was very deliberate in my choice of neighborhoods, as I wanted to live close to UCC. Professionally, I am a Consulting Psychologist working for a global firm with a focus on leadership, businesses, and organizations. As a business and leadership consultant who is also on a spiritual path, I bring unique gifts and a view that is spiritually oriented and grounded, balanced with basic good business and common sense, along with my abilities to teach, coach and facilitate. Prior to my current firm, I did clinical work for a few years and also owned a couple of businesses. My entire work life has always been about being of service to others and/or contribution to a greater good or mission. I view the Board position as an honor and privilege, an important responsibility, and a focused continuation of my desire to serve and contribute.
