Agreements
of UCC Board Members
- I commit to my
own spiritual transformation. I will expand my conscious expression of Unity
Principle through classes, reading, discussion, prayer and meditation with
the goal of clearly discerning God’s will for my life and this community.
- I commit to the
principle and practice of tithing.
- I commit to participation
in Board and Church activities as a high priority in my life. I will attend
scheduled Board meetings prepared and enthusiastic and fulfill all responsibilities
I undertake on a timely basis.
- I commit to express
my honest thoughts and feelings, and to hear my Board colleagues’ thoughts
and feelings without defensiveness or recrimination.
- I commit to respect
the opinions of other Board members, to support the majority decisions of
the Board in my contacts with participants in this community even if I hold
a minority view on an issue.
- I commit to being
accountable for personal agreements and to Unity Principles, and to ask fellow
Board members to be accountable to those same standards. I will avoid conflicts
of interest or personal agendas in all my interactions with UCC and my fellow
Board members.
- I commit to understand
and abide by the bylaws of Unity Christ Church and the statutes governing
nonprofit organizations and to stay informed on matters affecting our Church.
I will always remember that in my role as a Board member my actions and statements
have greater weight with the community than they would if I were a non Board
member and I will conduct myself accordingly.
- I commit to uphold
and further the mission of Unity Christ Church as I am directed through prayerful
discernment and divine guidance.
- As the eyes,
ears and voice for the congregation, I commit to being open and available
to any individual or group of individuals to hear any comments they may have
regarding Board actions and activities. I further commit to bringing these
issues before the Board for discussion, provided the individual(s) raising
the point(s) are willing to be named.
